Campionati – FAQ
1. Where are the matches held?
The main sport areas are:
– Giuriati Sports Centre (Via Pascal n.6) for male 5 a side football
– Gym of Casa dello Studente (Viale Romagna 62) for volleyball and basketball
– PolimiSport Playground of Bovisa campus for volleyball and basketball
2. Who can a team be formed by?
Each team must be made up exclusively of students enrolled in the same degree course (even from different years).
It is not allowed the participation of students that are not enrolled at Politecnico di Milano.
3. How many players can join the team?
Each team can register an unlimited number of players.
However there is a maximum players limit for each match (for example: 5 a side football allows only 12 players in the list of each match… etc.)
4. What does it mean mixed/open?
The term mixed, referred to the 6vs6 Volleyball Championship, means that there must be always at least two people of the opposite sex per team that are playing the match. (For example: 5 boys and 1 girl or viceversa)
The term open, referred to the 3vs3 Basketball Championship, means that there aren’t any kind of limitation regarding gender composition of the team nor in the field. (For example: an all-female, mixed or all-male team)
5. How do the Championships work? When do they finish?
The Winter Championships will start in October, the Spring Championships in March.
Championships start with preliminary groups, where every team will challenge all the other teams in their group, and after that there will be the playoff.
The Championships duration depends on the number of participating teams.
Matches will be played once a week, from Monday to Friday from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm.
Each team, filling the online registration form, can choose a maximum of two days of unavailability of the week, days in which they do not want to play any match.
6. The indicated fees are per team or per person?
The fees are considered per person. The cost includes the adidas official kit (t-shirt+shirts) and 3 guaranteed games.
It is mandatory for every registered player to have the Politecnico di Milano Sport card (annual membership card that is necessary for insurance reasons) that costs 20 euro and is not included in the registration fee.
7. Do I need a medical examination to participate?
To take part in the competition you need a medical examination that certificates your suitability for competitive or non-competitive sports with also a valid ECG resulting in the standard.
Each student can request the certificate for free through the provided medical visits service, bookable at the Sport Point.
8. Do I need the medical examination to register?
No, the certificate can also be presented after the finalization of the registration for the Championships. It is mandatory to have it filed to a Sport Point before playing any race, under the penalty of losing the game.
9. Is my team officially registered if I filled the online form?
No, the online pre-registration is not enough, to be officially registered you need to pay the registration fees for all the players of the team at a Sport Point.
10. Which services does the Sport Card include?
The Sport card is the membership card for students of Politecnico di Milano who want to play sports at any level. It is valid for one year (it expires on August 31st) and allows you to participate in the Championships, as well as to practice running activities at the Giuriati Sports Center and to access the PoloSportivo facilities.
